Ringkasan program
This program option, available to both EEEN and ECEN majors, focuses on the application of engineering concepts to the improvement and protection of health. Successful completion of this option is noted on a student's transcript, and may meet medical school requirements. Course work in the ECEN/EEEN curriculum is coupled with specialized courses linking electrical engineering to such biomedical applications as neural signals and systems, bioeffects of electromagnetic fields, and therapeutic and diagnostic uses of bioelectric phenomena. Undergraduates may also undertake independent study in these areas. Students interested in biomedical engineering may receive elective credit for two semesters of biology if they also complete two bioengineering courses from the ECEN/EEEN offerings. One of these ECEN/EEEN courses can also be used to satisfy course distribution requirements. The basic biomedical engineering option is thus composed of two semesters of biology and two ECEN/EEEN bioengineering courses taken in lieu of electives. Students who wish to complete course requirements for medical school should add two semesters of organic chemistry to the ECEN/EEEN biomedical engineering option. Premedical ECEN/EEEN students may petition to have these courses substituted for other electives.

Students from China should have a minimum average of 80 points on the 100-point Chinese grading scale. Gao Kao results are not required. Those from South Korea should have a minimum average of B, or wu, in the Korean system. Students from Germany should have a minimum average grade of 2 on the 6-point German grading scale (or 10 on the 15-point German grading scale). Kuwait students should have a minimum average of 80 on the 100-point Kuwaiti grading scale. Those from Brazil should have a minimum average of 7.0 on the 10-point Brazilian grading scale. Thailand students should have a minimum average of 70 on a 100-point Thai grading scale. Students from Venezuela should have a minimum average of 13 on the 20-point Venezuelan grading scale. All these countries do not require SAT/ACT scores. In addition to this, international students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 537 on Paper-based, 75 on Internet-based; and an IELTS score of 6.5.
