Ringkasan program
This program gives students an in-depth understanding of various scientific aspects of nutrition and food. Students study nutrient functions and requirements, metabolism, food quality and safety, the composition and chemical properties of foods, and changes in foods caused by processing, storage and preparation. Besides studying nutrition, food science, biology and microbiology, majors must take physics and complete extensive coursework in organic and analytical chemistry. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for graduation in this major. The food and nutrition science major has a strong science base that prepares students for job opportunities in the food industry, government agencies, careers in the medical field, and graduate study in the field.

Students must have graduated from a regionally accredited high school with certain academic units such as 4 units of English, 3 units of mathematics, natural science, social science and 2 sequential units of the same foreign language with a minimum cumulative grade point average in those academic units and present at least a B+ average in all academic subjects. They should possess the minimum critical reading score of 500 on the SAT, or 21 on the ACT English and 22 on the ACT reading, and a minimum math score of 500 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT and have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA in 6 semesters hours of approved college-level English and mathematics. Applicants whose native language is not in English and who have not studied in an English-speaking country for at least one academic year must have the minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or 80 on the internet-based test is required for admission.
