This program encompasses the business aspects of health services and the information systems used to plan, finance, and evaluate patient care. The profession focuses on management principles, information systems, finance, legal and ethical issues, quality improvement, clinical data management, and the skills necessary to manage people and systems. The health information manager plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises various aspects of care and services provided in health-related environments. Graduates of the program acquire a business and information systems background as well as a strong healthcare background to more effectively communicate with medical professionals and consumers of healthcare. The graduate is prepared for entry-level management and staff positions in all sectors of the health care industry. The field of Health Information Management represents the body of knowledge and practice that assures the availability of healthcare information to facilitate real-time healthcare delivery and critical health related decision-making for multiple purposes across diverse organizations, settings, and disciplines. It is concerned with the management of resources to collect, store, retrieve, interpret, and communicate healthcare information that deals with patient care, medico-legal issues, research, and the planning, provision, and evaluation of health care services. HIMS is a great undergraduate program for students interested in obtaining their Bachelors of Science or for those students interested in pursuing graduate degrees in physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), hospital administration, medicine, physician assistants, health informatics, business, law, and public health.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must have a successful completion of four years of a university preparatory curriculum (also known as college preparatory curriculum or college prep) while in the final four years (grades 9-12) of high school/secondary school such as four units of English, three (four)units of math, three units of natural science with significant lab experience, two (three) units of social science, two (three) units of the same foreign language, one unit of a visual or performing art, one additional unit of the above courses and they must possess the performance in high school/secondary school as shown by class rank or grade point average. They should have the SAT critical reading and verbal score of at least 500 and ACT English score of at least 21. International applicants whose native language is not English must have results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of at least 527 on the paper based test, 71 on the Internet-based test, score of at least 79 on the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) and an official band score of at least 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
