Ringkasan program

This program offers an innovative four-year curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree; a strong emphasis in all aspects of business and hospitality management; hospitality and management teaching laboratories; and career and internship opportunities in the dynamic Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond. The mission of this program is to educate students for management and leadership in the hospitality industry and to contribute to the profession through teaching excellence, research, consultation and service activities. Graduates of the program are prepared for promising careers in restaurant management, marketing and sales catering, hospitality accounting, hospitality human resources, country club management, resort management, and hospitality web development.

The modules include SMHM Core: 15 hours, including SMHM 1450 Principles of Nutrition 3, SMHM 3790 Pre-Internship Seminar in Merchandising and Hospitality Management 3, SMHM 3950 Creating Consumer Experiences 3, SMHM 4750 Managing a Diverse Work Force 3 and SMHM 4790 Internship in Merchandising and Hospitality Management 1-3, 42 hours (33 advanced), including SMHM 1420 Food Sanitation (1), SMHM 1470 Introduction to Professional Food Preparation 3, SMHM 1500 Orientation to the Hospitality Industry (2), SMHM 2800 Foundations of International Travel and Tourism 3, SMHM 3250 Restaurant Operations I 3, SMHM 3260 Resort and Club Management 3, SMHM 3600 Management of Human Resources in the Hospitality Industry 3, SMHM 3700 Hotel Operations 3, SMHM 3800 Information Technology in Hospitality and Tourism 3, SMHM 4210 Hospitality Cost Controls 3, SMHM 4250 Restaurant Operations II 3, SMHM 4820 Facilities Planning, Equipment, Layout and Design 3 and SMHM 4860 Hospitality Business Strategies 3; plus 6 hours to be selected from SMHM 3090 Consumer Engagement in Digital Channels 3, SMHM 3240 Special Event Management 3, SMHM 3920 Recent Developments in the Hospitality Industry 3, SMHM 4000 Global Discovery in Merchandising and Hospitality Management 1-3, SMHM 4300 Survey of Beverages in the Hospitality Industry 3.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must have graduated from an accredited high school and strongly recommend that students take the following classes in high school. Students should have a strong ‘B’ average and have completed three units of English and two units each of solid mathematics, social science and natural science. Students should have a minimum combined SAT (combined critical reading/verbal and math) score of 1180 or ACT composite of 26. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based), score of 550 (Paper-based) and score of 213 (Computer-based) and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall band and also should have minimum MELAB (official version) score of 80 or higher.
