Uraian Tempat

With major specializations in Exercise Science, Health Fitness and Physical Education, the Kinesiology bachelor’s degree prepares students for careers in: physical education, fitness and wellness programs (whether corporate, commercial, community), clinical and hospital-based fitness and wellness centers, and cardiac rehabilitation. Undergraduate students specializing in Exercise Science can also use their bachelor’s degree as a stepping stone to pursue graduate programs in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physician Assistant. The course work and related experiences (laboratory work, internships, and student teaching opportunities) provide students with the knowledge, comprehension, and proficiency in skills and techniques which will enable them to become competent and successful professionals. The Department of Kinesiology also offers graduate degree programs in Adapted Physical Education, Cultural Studies of Sport and Physical Culture, Exercise Science, Physical Education Pedagogy, and Psychosocial/Behavioral Aspects of Physical Activity.

The University Gateway Apartments are located at the entrance of Upper College Rd. There are 24 apartments designated for graduate students. The apartments are unfurnished but do have a stove and refrigerator. The monthly rent includes heat and hot water. A laundry facility is located at the end of the complex. The Gateway community offers a 24-hour on-call site manager and convenient parking. A graduate assistant is available to provide on-site assistance and service. The University Village is located directly across the main street from the Kingston Campus on Route 138. This complex offers 100 unfurnished apartments, 35 two-bedrooms and 65 three-bedrooms. There are seven buildings in the University Village each containing a laundry room. Each apartment has University electric including the heat. Utilities are not included in the rent, however a stove and refrigerator is included. First year halls are clustered within residential neighborhoods conveniently located between the academic and athletic/recreation sectors of campus as follows: South End - Adams, Barlow, Bressler, Browning, Butterfield, Rainbow Diversity House (partial freshman housing), Weldin; Hope Quad - Hutchinson, Merrow, Peck, Tucker; West Side - Fayerweather, Gorham; and Northwoods - Heathman. These are co-ed residences in which female and male rooms are arranged along either side of a residential corridor or hallway. These halls have been selected specifically for first year housing because their floor plans encourage the kind of social interaction that facilitates the smooth transition to college life at URI.
