This program is the entry level professional nursing degree and provides the foundation for graduate study. The undergraduate major requires a minimum of four years of full-time study. Part-time study may be possible, but will lengthen the time for degree completion. The first year of study includes required pre-professional course work, which students must successfully complete, meeting minimum requirements in order to apply for admission to the College of Nursing. Upon acceptance, students are enrolled in the college for the last three years of the degree. Admission to the College of Nursing is highly selective and competitive. The expected outcomes for a graduate of the BSN program are listed below is a professional nurse who embodies the values of the discipline of nursing, which include altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, and social justice; demonstrates critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, rational inquiry, problem-solving skills, and creativity in identifying, framing, and solving nursing problems; demonstrates effective communication, collaboration and negotiation skills with patients, families, and communities; collaborates and negotiates as a member and leader within interdisciplinary health care teams; performs comprehensive state-of-the-art assessment of patients, families, communities, and populations using current technologies and data from organizations and health care systems; uses the technical skills necessary to deliver safe and competent evidence-based nursing care; knowledge and skills to promote health, reduce risk and prevent disease; demonstrates cultural competence, compassion, and respect in the provision of health care; politically aware individual who participates in the profession and the practice of nursing with a global perspective; delivers quality nursing care that balances human, fiscal and material resources; uses traditional and developing methods of discovering, retrieving and managing information in nursing practice; commits to life-long learning and professional career development; Designs, manages, evaluates and coordinates health care in diverse settings; can articulate a morally defensible position related to every day and complex health care issues.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must have a successful completion of four years of a university preparatory curriculum (also known as college preparatory curriculum or college prep) while in the final four years (grades 9-12) of high school/secondary school such as four units of English, three (four)units of math, three units of natural science with significant lab experience, two (three) units of social science, two (three) units of the same foreign language, one unit of a visual or performing art, one additional unit of the above courses and they must possess the performance in high school/secondary school as shown by class rank or grade point average. They should have the SAT critical reading and verbal score of at least 500 and ACT English score of at least 21. International applicants whose native language is not English must have results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of at least 527 on the paper based test, 71 on the Internet-based test, score of at least 79 on the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) and an official band score of at least 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
