In this program, students are well prepared to function as an exercise leader, exercise specialist, wellness instructor, fitness specialist, and or personal trainer in a hospital, private, corporate or non-profit agency. During the past 20 years, there has been a continual growth in the fitness and health promotion industry. As a result of this growth, alternate careers within physical education have increased in popularity and viability. University of Central Missouri is helping to meet needs for these new professionals by offering a program of study in corporate fitness. Coursework has been designated to relate directly to the needs of fitness and wellness professionals. Agencies are now publishing data which indicate they have healthier employees and verify that their fitness and health promotion programs have provided cost saving in medical expenses and employee absenteeism. It is anticipated that corporations, hospitals and communities will expand fitness and wellness programs in the future. As a result, there will be an increase in demand for better educated and qualified professionals in fitness and wellness, and programs preparing students for careers in corporate fitness are vital to the state, region and nation.
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students should have completed the 24-unit Missouri college-preparatory curriculum. They also need either a score of 21 or higher on the ACT and 2.0 GPA or 1470 on the SAT and 2.0 GPA; or a score of 20 on the ACT and 2.9 GPA; or a score of 19 on the ACT and 3.0 GPA; or a combined percentile index equal to or exceeding 100. In addition to this, international students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 500 on paper-based, 61 on internet-based or an IELTS score of 5.5. The English proficiency requirement is waived for applicants who have completed a minimum of 30 semester credit hours at an accredited college/university in the USA or who are citizens of a country whose native language is English.
