The department offers programs of study in both history and political science to provide students with the essential elements of liberal learning. They help students acquire knowledge and understanding, cultivate perspective, and develop critical thinking and communications skills. History and political science reflect concern for human values and appreciation of present day contexts as well as for tradition. The department offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in History and in Political Science, as well as a double major in History and Political Science. The department also offers an M.S. degree in Science, Technology, and Society (STS), and a Bachelors/Masters dual-degree program. The Department of History and Politics would especially like to encourage its own majors and International Area Studies majors to consider either the dual-degree program or the masters program in Science, Technology, and Society.

University Housing provides an efficient, customer-oriented and cost-effective housing operation through appropriate technology, timely communication and established partnerships. Residence Hall services are provided as part of the on-campus living experience and included in the cost of housing. Living on campus means convenient access to everything Drexel offers and the chance to develop lasting friendships. Drexel students live in nine Main Campus residence halls: Calhoun Hall, Caneris Hall, Kelly Hall, Millennium Hall, Myers Hall, North Hall, Race Street Residences, Towers Hall, and Van Rensselaer Hall. Each of the residence halls offers common recreation and study lounges, kitchens, and laundry facilities; and individual rooms are equipped to provide personal telephone service and cable television and Internet access. The residence halls and floors organize regular events, activities, and study sessions with assistance from the professional residential staff and resident assistants living in each hall. All of the residence halls are close to the North Side Market, the Hand Schumacher Dining Center, and Ross Commons, where students can find snacks or full meals.
