Hawai'i Pacific University is an independent, not-for-profit, coeducational, nonsectarian, career-oriented post secondary institution founded in 1965. Hawai'i Pacific University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the National League for Nursing. This University is also a member of many nationally recognized groups including the National League of Nursing, and the Executive MBA Council. With three campuses linked by shuttle, It combines the excitement of an urban downtown campus with the serenity of a residential campus set in the green foothills of the windward side of the island. It offers over 50 concentrations for undergraduate degrees, and 11 graduate degree programs. Students come from over 100 countries to study at HPU, making it one of the most diverse campuses in the world. It offers a competitive athletic program with ten men’s and/or women’s varsity teams including tennis, basketball, baseball, and golf, among others. HPU’s Cheer leading Squad and HPU's Dance Team have both received national championship titles.

The Residence in this university is provided a supportive living-learning environment that encourages students to succeed in the classroom as well as grow as individuals outside the classroom. The on campus residence halls are rooms of double occupancy and triple occupancy. The residence halls offer both double-and triple-occupancy rooms. Each room is equipped with basic furniture, including a twin bed, desk, and closet space and/or dresser for each resident. The majority of rooms are shared suites with a semi-private bathroom. Most shared suites consist of one double occupancy room and one triple occupancy room. Each residence hall also offers a central lounge area for resident activities, group study, and programs conducted by University faculty and staff. The residence halls and residence life areas are nonsmoking areas. The Student Center and Fitness Center, also located in the Residence Life area, provide students with a centralized area for social activities, leisure time, exercise, and group study. At the Student Center, students may use computers with Internet access, a large-screen television, VCR, DVD player, ping pong table, football table, and a billiard table.
