This program prepares students for a career in social services, in service-oriented industries, and for a variety of positions in the private and public sectors. As a major in this track, students will enjoy a rich and broad undergraduate education that will prepare them for informed involvement in the community. This major, for instance, prepares students for work combining psychology and computer technology or in research assistant positions in medicine and industry. As a Psychology major, students may wish to pursue graduate or professional studies in psychology, medicine, and the law. In addition, they may be interested in graduate degrees in social work, business administration, and hotel and restaurant management.

Modul program

The courses include 6 hrs of communication which covers ENGL 1303; ENGL 1304. 3 hrs of MATH excludes Math 1300 and covers MATH 1310 or 1311. 3 hrs of MATH REASONING covers PSYC 3301, 3 hrs of humanities, 3 hrs of visual/performing ARTS (VPA). 6 hrs of natural science, 3 hrs of social science include PSYC 1300, 3 hrs of soc science writing intensive (UH Specific). 6 hrs of history includes HIST 1377; HIST 1378. 6 hrs of Political Science covers POLS 1336; POLS 1337. Psychology Major (33 hrs) include PSYC 1300 Intro to Psychology; PSYC 2301 Research Methods + Lab; PSYC 2380 Intro to Social Psychology; PSYC 3301 Psychological Statistics; PSYC 3341 Physiological Psychology; PSYC 3350 Cognitive Psychology; PSYC 3325 Psychology of Personality; PSYC elective (any level); PSYC elective (any level); PSYC elective (3000 or 4000 level); PSYC elective (3000 or 4000 level), class electives (9 hrs), B.A. Foreign Language (6 hrs), minor or Double Major, general electives (ELEC).

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must meet one of the following college readiness standards in order to be eligible to be considered for admission at a Texas four-year public institution. Students must successfully complete the recommended or advanced high school program or complete the portion of the program that was available to them; or students must have the scores of SAT - 1500 out of 2400 (verbal, math and writing)/ACT - 18 English, 21 reading, 22 mathematics and 24 science; or successfully complete a curriculum that is equivalent in content and rigor to the recommended or advanced high school program at a high school that is exempt from offering such programs. Students that do not meet one of first two requirements must prove they meet the third requirement by having their counselor fill out the high school curriculum certification form and submit to the University of Houston. Students must complete each of the high school academic core courses (four units of English; three units of mathematics, including at least algebra I, algebra II, and geometry; two units of laboratory science, including at least one unit/credit in biology, chemistry, or physics; three units of social studies; two units/credits in one foreign language) with an average of a 2.5 or a “C+” or higher for the group. Students should have secured a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based) on the test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or overall band score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or completion of level six of the University of Houston’s Language and Culture Center.
