This program offers a liberal education for the department’s technological age. It explores the foundations and impact of science and technology by examining the values, language, history, politics, and economics of modern technological society. It prepares the student to integrate science and technology with the humanities and social sciences. Through its multidisciplinary approach, explores the interrelated worlds of the scientist, artist, engineer, politician, and citizen. Furthermore, the global, multicultural, and environmental perspective of STS develops ethical awareness and public responsibility. STS graduates are in demand in many areas. They find employment in fields such as law, medicine, technical communications, government, corporate planning, business management, public policy and administration, urban development, transportation, technology assessment, and environmental planning. In addition, the STS degree provides excellent preparation for graduate study in any of these fields, as well as in liberal arts disciplines such as history, law and political science. Graduates from the STS program with the Ethics and Philosophy of Technology major option often pursue graduate education upon completion of their BS degrees or careers in areas relate to law, medicine, government, corporate planning, business management, public policy and administration, urban development, technology assessment, and environmental planning.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students should have a high school academic record. The average composite SAT score for enrolling freshmen is 1140. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required of all applicants whose first language is not English. The minimum score required is 79 for the Internet-based TOEFL exam, 213 for the computer-based TOEFL exam, or 550 for the paper TOEFL exam or 6.0 for the IELTS exam.
