This department is the only academic unit, nationally, to share programs in these disciplines. Its programs are human centered and focused on improving the complex human-technical systems of today. It offers a variety of engineering-related educational experiences. The department offers undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Industrial and Systems Engineering. Its Masters in Engineering features programs in the Biomedical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Human Factors Engineering. Department research is prominent in the Ph.D. in Engineering program in three focus areas: Industrial and Human Systems, Material and Nanotechnology and Sensor and Signal Processing.

This university provides campus housing to students through residential halls and apartments. All students are eligible to be accommodated in Hamilton Hall; it has double and triple occupancy rooms. Students who are in the University Honors Program are eligible to be accommodated in Honors Community, it has double occupancy rooms. In the Woods hall all students are eligible to be accommodated in it, has single, double, triple and quad occupancy rooms.
