Uraian Tempat
The University of Georgia got underway in 1801 in the humblest of circumstances in a log cabin on the edge of the wilderness. The town of Athens grew up around it. In admiration for Benjamin Franklin, the leading man of intellect in the infant United States, the institution came to be known as the Franklin College. It remained so until 1859 when the College of Law was added to begin the enlargement of the University that now has grown to comprise thirteen Schools and Colleges, and a number of Institutes, Centers, Museums, Laboratories and Programs as befits a major research university in the first years of the twenty-first century. The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences thus served as the root from which not only the rest of the University, but the entire University System of Georgia sprang. It is still the largest and most complex College in the State.

Informasi mengenai akomodasi
Students who live on campus earn better grades, forge stronger bonds of community and report a higher level of satisfaction with their overall collegiate experience. For these reasons, all first-year students are required to live on campus. Living on campus means the residence hall is a short walk or bus ride away from every classroom, lab and library; a workout at the 425,000 square foot Ramsey Student Center for Physical Activities; a movie at the Tate Student Center; or a meal at one of UGA Food Services’ award winning dining commons, which are consistently ranked at the very top of national student satisfaction polls. Residence Hall security is a top priority. Entrances in all 20 undergraduate residence halls are monitored electronically, with access to living spaces controlled by electronic biometric hand reader systems that limit unauthorized entry. All University Housing residence hall rooms, suites and apartments feature furnishings, air conditioning, high speed Internet access, cable television and window blinds. Common areas include kitchens, laundries, meeting rooms, computer labs and lounges. All University Housing apartment residents have private bedrooms and private or semi-private bathrooms. All apartments are also equipped with kitchens with microwaves. Some halls feature in-room carpeting. Residents in all halls are welcome to bring rugs and other floor coverings. Because room sizes vary considerably, purchases should be delayed until actual room measurements can be obtained. Residents share centrally-located bathrooms with members of the same gender. Bathrooms are cleaned daily. Three to six residents in single and double bedrooms share semi-private bathrooms with their suite mates. Suites do not have kitchens. Students should remember most of the residence halls close during the holiday breaks.
