Ringkasan program
This program is designed to assist the undergraduate student to achieve excellence in his or her personal direction in the medium. The curriculum is structured to challenge the student both conceptually and technically through a series of progressively more intense assignments and experiences. Early emphasis is placed on a common foundation in basic fabrication and decorating techniques and is followed by opportunities to expand those skills in upper level courses. The ceramics area familiarizes students with the terminology of the field, and teaches use of the ceramic equipment, including the potter's wheel, slab roller, extruder, clay mixers, and both electric and gas kilns. Students are expected to achieve an acceptable level of mastery of a number of these skills including clay construction, object decoration, and kiln firing. It is the goal that students leaving the program are prepared for success in graduate school, employment within a ceramic studio, or self employment in a ceramic production business.
Modul program
The modules include ASTU 2050 Beginning Ceramics 3, ASTU 3050 Intermediate Ceramics 3; 15 hours of ASTU 4050 Ceramics Studio 3; 6 hours (3 advanced) from a second craft field; 3 hours from a third craft field; 6 advanced hours of art history; 18 hours (15 advanced) of art electives.
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students must have graduated from an accredited high school and strongly recommend that students take the following classes in high school. Students should have a strong ‘B’ average and have completed three units of English and two units each of solid mathematics, social science and natural science. Students should have a minimum combined SAT (combined critical reading/verbal and math) score of 1180 or ACT composite of 26. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based), score of 550 (Paper-based) and score of 213 (Computer-based) and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall band and also should have minimum MELAB (official version) score of 80 or higher.
