Ringkasan program

This program prepares students to become either a self-employed artist or to pursue a master of fine arts degree. Self-employed artists show and sell work in galleries, museums and a variety of other venues. The MFA degree would open up teaching opportunities at the college and university level. As a watercolor major, they will study not only watercolor, but also art appreciation, art history, design, printmaking and other studio arts. Students will have access to well-equipped studios and instruction in a wide range of techniques. They will get a great deal of hands-on experience in their classes. Students majoring in watercolor have opportunities to exhibit their work in competitions that are judged by professional artists. In addition, they can show their work on campus and at local and regional galleries.

The modules include ASTU 2200 Beginning Figure Drawing 3, ASTU 2210 Painting I 3, ASTU 2417Beginning Watercolor Painting 3, ASTU 3200 Intermediate Figure Drawing 3; 6 hours advanced art history (recommended: AEAH 4810 Nineteenth-Century Art, AEAH 4811Topics in Nineteenth-Century Art, AEAH 4823 Asian Art, AEAH 4824 Topics in Asian Art; AEAH 4812 Modernism and the Visual Arts 1890-1945 or AEAH 4813 Postmodernism and the Visual Arts 1945-Present); 3 hours from ASTU 2050 Beginning Ceramics, ASTU 2130 Weaving I, ASTU 2150 Metalsmithing and Jewelry I or ASTU 2350 Sculpture I; 3 hours from ASTU 3305 Artist’s Bookmaking, ASTU 3310 Printmaking: Etching, ASTU 3315 Printmaking: Monotype Printmaking, ASTU 3320 Printmaking: Screen Printing, ASTU 3330 Printmaking: Lithography or ASTU 3340 Printmaking: Relief Printmaking; 9 hours intermediate painting to include ASTU 3417 Intermediate Watercolor, ASTU 3427 Experimental Topics in Watercolor: Studio I and ASTU 3437 Experimental Topics in Watercolor: Studio II; 9 hours ASTU 4417Watercolor Studio; 15 hours art electives, 9 hours of which must be advanced.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must have graduated from an accredited high school and strongly recommend that students take the following classes in high school. Students should have a strong ‘B’ average and have completed three units of English and two units each of solid mathematics, social science and natural science. Students should have a minimum combined SAT (combined critical reading/verbal and math) score of 1180 or ACT composite of 26. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based), score of 550 (Paper-based) and score of 213 (Computer-based) and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall band and also should have minimum MELAB (official version) score of 80 or higher.
