Ringkasan program
The public health and health education programs at Northern Illinois University offer several options at the undergraduate level for students interested in teaching health education in Illinois public schools. The B.S.Ed. in health education are qualified to apply for teacher certification and to teach in public or private schools. Those completing the 6-12 entitlement program leading to certification are eligible to be certified to teach grades 6-12. In addition to teaching within the major, graduates of this program may also be qualified to teach other academic areas based on approved minors leading to endorsements. Approved minors extend professional competencies while allowing flexible teaching options for middle and secondary schools. Successful completion of the Illinois Certification Testing System (ICTS) Basic Skills Test is required for entry into the health education teacher certification program. The test bulletins and applications are available at the Office of Testing Services and in the public health and health education programs office. Students who intend to enter a teacher certification program need to take the ICTS Basic Skills Test at the earliest possible date.

Students should possess High School Diploma and should have GPA score of at least 2.50 on a 4.00 (USA) scale or be in the upper-half of their graduating class. Applicants who have a GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale or are in the upper-half of the class must have ACT composite score of at least 19 and SAT score of 870-900. Applicants who have 2.50 on a 4.00 scale or are in the upper two-thirds of the class must have ACT composite score of at least 23 and SAT score of 1030-1050. Students should have TOEFL scores which includes 527 on a paper based test, 197 on computer-based test or 71 on an internet based test. IELTS Score includes 6.0. Students need not submit TOEFL/IELTS score, if they can prove English is recognized as their countries' native language and if they have attended a US High School for more than 1 year.
