The Department of Chemistry is committed to providing an education which will prepare the graduates for entrance into the leading graduate and professional programs and to be critical thinkers and problem solvers in their chosen fields. The program is characterized by close student-faculty contact made possible by small classes and faculty availability. Students may choose to enhance their educational development through the Honors Program, through involvement in faculty research, and through cooperative experiences which are available with several area employers.

Housing and Residential Life at the University of Michigan-Flint is fully dedicated to the creation of a learning-centered community where inclusiveness, academic excellence, personal growth, and the free exchange of divergent ideas are highly valued. An incredibly diverse group of student residents are encouraged to actively shape their community and are expected to balance individual and collective needs with civility and honesty. Housing and Residential Life staff is committed to developing a sensitive, socially just and humane community in the residence halls. The Hall Director, Resident Advisors and Front Desk staffs are trained to assist residents in developing multicultural community, supporting academic achievement and creating opportunities for personal growth. The residence hall staff seeks to create and maintain environments conducive to the development of all students and assists them in understanding and utilizing college resources and policies. First Street Residence Hall, opened in Fall of 2008, is a state of the art facility providing spacious living arrangements, a mediated classroom, study and social lounges all in a completely wireless and high tech environment that is only minutes away from their classes.
