Uraian Tempat

The Department of Mathematics is part of the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University and consists of approximately 30 professors whose research interests cover a broad spectrum of mathematics: algebra, analysis (including numerical analysis and probability), combinatorics, geometry, statistics, and topology and mathematics education. At the same time, they are small enough so most of the faculty and most of the graduate students know each other. Several of the faculty members are internationally known for their excellence in research and teaching. The Department offers undergraduate degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science and post-graduate degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. A joint program with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science allows students to receive the degree of Master of Science in both mathematics and computer science.

Graduate students have the option of living in University-owned housing on South Campus or in off-campus apartments or houses. Apartment-style university housing is available in Slocum Heights on South Campus, about two miles from Main Campus. Free shuttle bus service is available. These apartments are furnished, utilities are included, and one communications fee covers phone, cable and internet service. Apartment layouts, virtual tours, and associated costs are all available on the University's Housing. There are also numerous apartment complexes and rental houses that the graduate students choose to live in. Many are within walking distance or on the bus line.
