The College of Idaho is a private, liberal-arts institution that provides an undergraduate education for more than 800 students in Caldwell. Founded as the College of Idaho in 1891, Albertson provides a curriculum that is grounded in the liberal arts in a challenging, intimate academic setting. Embodying its slogan "Awaken the Mind, Encounter Truth, Contribute to Community,” the college prides itself on small classes and close student-faculty interaction, while also preparing its students for leadership roles in various occupations and communities. The college's liberal arts education is enhanced with the latest technology, off-campus internships, international study and community service. The college's 50-acre campus includes walking trails, athletic fields, academic buildings, an art gallery, an auditorium and an outdoor amphitheater. The college's newest facilities include a student union building, two apartment-like residence halls and a performing and fine arts center.

The Residence Life focuses on providing a living environment that enhances learning and personal development. Residence hall staff are educators who seek to create a community where students mature personally and academically. Residence hall living offers opportunities for involvement in campus activities, personal growth, leadership development, life skills development, interaction with campus leaders, independence and fun. Research shows that students who live on campus tend to do better academically, are more involved in campus activities, and remain in school at higher rates than commuter students. The residence hall experience is intended to complement the academic experience, help students become integrated members of the campus community, and facilitate their overall growth and development.
