IU offers many different housing options, including shared double rooms, single rooms, and a variety of apartments. Many international students enjoy the sense of community that exists in residence halls or on-campus apartments. University housing includes apartments designed for students with families. University residence halls offer flexible meal plans with a variety of dining options. Students can use their meal plans to purchase food from cafeterias, marketplaces, food courts, and convenience stores. This gives students many choices about their diet and eating preferences. There are many housing options in Bloomington including furnished and unfurnished apartments and houses that you can rent on your own. Bloomington is a small city, and the Bloomington Transit system (bus service) provides convenient transportation to campus, grocery stores, and shopping areas. Depending on where you live, you may have many services within walking distance. Some students enjoy bicycling for transportation and recreation. If you are bringing a spouse or children with you to Bloomington, you will find both on-campus and off-campus housing options that accommodate families. The campus housing area known at the Northeast Neighborhood includes a number of apartment complexes with space and facilities for families with children. You can also rent apartments or houses on your own in the Bloomington community to accommodate your family's housing needs.
