Uraian Tempat

The Frost School of Music, one of two schools created in 1926 when the University of Miami was founded, is one of the largest and best music schools located in a private university in the U.S., and one of the most comprehensive in all of higher education. The naming gift from Dr. Phillip and Patricia Frost was one of the historic highlights in the life of the School. Building on its foundation as a Conservatory of Music, the Frost School has pioneered new curricula and was the first in the nation to offer professionally accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Music Business and Music Engineering Technology. The Frost School was also among the first to offer degrees in Studio Music and Jazz, Music Therapy, and Accompanying and Chamber Music. In addition, the Frost School was the first in a major university to develop a student-run label, ‘Cane Records, and a publishing company, Category Five. The School’s innovative programs, combined with its traditional areas of concentration, offer its students one of the widest choices of career programs of any music school in the nation.

Housing: The on-campus apartments are the oldest residence facilities at the University. Originally a 29-building complex, these were financed by the first government insured loan to a private university for campus housing. The original intent for these facilities was to house married veterans and their families. The apartment area was completed in 1948, along with the creation of Lake Osceola. In early years, the apartments consisted of mostly men. Today the Apartment Area houses both male and female upperclassmen students. The Apartment Area is located on the east side of campus between Stanford Drive and Dickinson Drive near the Metro-Rail station and the Wellness Center. Apartment Area residents may stay on campus during the Intersession period in December and early January. The following are the Meal Plan rates for the 2008 - 2009 academic year. Meal Plan enrollment is for the full academic year but is charged on a semester basis: Meal Plan for 20 is $4,204 Annual Cost; Meal Plan for 14 is $4,018 Annual Cost; Meal Plan for 8 Kosher Plus is $4,288 Annual Cost; Meal Plan for 8 is $3,488 Annual Cost; Meal Plan for 5 is $1,828 Annual Cost.
