The modules are APPLIED MUSIC (conducting study) Music 5323 (private lessons) 4 semesters at 4 credits each 16. ENSEMBLE (orchestra, concert choir, or wind ensemble) 4, 2 semesters at 2 credits each (conducting majors must serve as observers and assistant conductors of one of these major ensembles for two semesters. They receive 4 hours of credit under Music 6400, Tutorial). MIN or FIELD either Theory or History 4 courses at 3 credits each 12. Theory chosen from: Music 5302 - Analytic Techniques, Music 5348 - Schenkerian Theory and Analysis, Music 5353 - Theory Seminar, Music 5354 - Advanced Analysis, Music 5356 - Theory Teaching, Music 5359 - History of Music Theory, Music 3371Q or 5379 - 20th-Century/Atonal Theory and Analysis. History chosen from: Music 5319 - Notation and Performance Practice, Music 6411 - The Life and Works of Individual Composers, Music 6412 - Seminar: Style Periods in Music History, Music 6413 - Seminar: History of Musical Forms. Directed Electives (chosen with the approval of the major advisor and the Advisory Committee) minimum 10 RECITAL One recital and two non-credit large ensemble conducting appearances (1/2 program) are required for conducting majors. University provides on campus housing at the following residence halls for graduate students at the following places: Graduate Residences; The Graduate Residences contain single rooms for graduate students and older undergraduates. Centrally located on campus, the Graduate Residences consist of three buildings in a coeducational complex that contains 440 carpeted, single rooms. These buildings are subdivided into 16 halls with no more than ten students sharing a bathroom on a floor. These residences provide year-round housing including breaks between semesters and holidays. Northwood Apartments; The Northwood Apartments complex is located on Northwood Road, just off of North Eagleville Road on the western perimeter of the University of Connecticut campus. Northwood Apartments provides housing for graduate students in two-bedroom apartments and also accommodates graduate students with families. Some undergraduate students may also be housed in two-bedroom apartments. Hilltop Apartments; The Hilltop Apartments are home to 964 undergraduate and graduate students. While primarily serving the undergraduate student population there are a number of apartments available for graduate students. The complex is comprised of thirteen, three story buildings and a Community Center. There are a variety of living options available ranging from four person, two person, and one person efficiency apartments. University also provides on campus housing for the undergraduate students at the following residence halls; Alumni Quadrangle, Buckley, Charter Oak Apartments, Alan Thacker Busby Suites (formerly Charter Oak Suites), East Campus, Hilltop Residence Halls, Hilltop Apartments, Harry Lucian Garrigus Suites (formerly Hilltop Suites), Husky Village, Mansfield Apartments, McMahon Hall, Northwest - Freshmen Only, North Campus, Shippee - Freshmen Only, South Campus, Towers Quadrangle, West Campus.
