The Ph.D. requires a minimum of 45 semester hours of course work and dissertation research beyond the master’s level including 12 credit hours of dissertation research. A student may be admitted without a master’s degree with the approval of the faculty in the student’s area of emphasis. Those students entering without a master’s degree will be required to take additional course work. Those students entering with a degree other than in public health are expected to take the core courses required for the M.S.P.H. degree or their equivalent.

Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university. International students whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency by obtaining minimum TOEFL score of 570 (paper-based) or 80 (internet-based). Applicants may also take the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) in lieu of the TOEFL. A minimum score of 6.5 is required for the IELTS. Admission also requires submission of scores on either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).
