Students admitted to the Ph.D. program in Managerial Sciences can elect to specialize in Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management. This specialization includes coverage of traditional topics in OB (e.g., individual differences, motivation, leadership, and group dynamics) and HR (staffing, selection, recruitment, and performance appraisal), as well as exposure to the specific research domains that are of interest to the participating faculty (e.g., organizational justice, psychological contracts, employee development, negotiation, organizational citizenship, and the strategic process by which HR programs are developed and evaluated). Students develop a solid grounding in the foundations of OB/HR research through participation in a set of core seminars. They then customize their knowledge to their particular interests through a focused set of directed readings courses coordinated with faculty members. Typically, students take 30 hours of seminars and directed readings, and 15 hours of research methods and design.

A bachelor’s degree in any field of study from a regionally accredited college or university is required for admission to all of the degree programs, or to the certificate program, of the Robinson College of Business. Only coursework from institutions with accreditation equivalent to that granted by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is considered in evaluating an applicant for admission.
