Ringkasan program
This program emphasizes the development of expertise in educational research and is intended for individuals who wish to pursue careers as researchers in educational organizations or as professors of education with a specialization in research. A degree in educational leadership (EDLD) through the Department of Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership focuses on the process for development, implementation, and generation of outcomes in the organization and management of K-12. This program is designed to provide educational leaders, policy makers, and researchers the skills needed to design and implement strategies that improve practice and outcomes in educational organizations. Students earn a degree in educational leadership and may supplement their degree program in one of five areas of specialization - educational leadership, measurement and assessment, statistics and research design, instructional technology (begins 2010), and reading leadership. In these specializations, educational leaders learn to bridge research and practice by focusing on learning and outcomes. This outcome-oriented perspective makes the program unique in its blend of local focus and national agendas.
Modul program
The modules are core courses - measurement and assessment: EDLD 610 Advanced Measurement and Assessment (requires prerequisites), EDLD 610 or 685 Advanced Practicum in Quantitative Methods, EDLD 610 Validity Theory (requires prerequisites). Policy Studies: EDLD 632 Educational Policy Analysis, EDLD 641 Standards and Accountability Systems. Leadership: EDLD 644 Learning Organizations, EDLD 610 Equity and Achievement. Learning Community Courses: EDLD 659 Professional Writing, EDLD 647/8/9 First-year Pro-seminar Professional Issues, EDLD 610 Advanced Pro-seminar Dissertation Preparation. College of Education Requirements: EDST 670 Philosophy of Research (required to be taken winter of first year), Methodological Requirements (24 credits). Four Quantitative Courses: SPSY 619 Statistics in Education II, EDLD 610 Multiple Regression, Either SPED 607 Advanced Research Design or SPSY 620 Multivariate Statistics, Elective from the Quantitative Sequence, such as EDLD 610 Survey and Questionnaire Design and Analysis, EDLD 610 HLM 1, EDLD 610 SEM I, or other Course 3 above not yet taken by student. Two Qualitative Courses: EDST 671 Qualitative Methods I: Interpretive Inquiry, EDST 672 Qualitative Methods II: Reflexive Approaches, or if approved by advisor an elective such as EDST 674 Intro In-Depth Interviewing. Policy and Organizations: Strategic Communications, Analysis of Teaching and Learning (655), State and Local Policy Development (683), Information Technology for Curriculum Design (610). Advanced Research Methods: Large-scale Databases (610), HLM 1 and 2 (610), SEM 1 and 2 (610), Advanced Research Design (SPED 607), Multivariate Statistics (SPSY 620), Analysis of Discrete and Categorical Data (EDLD 610), Advanced Program Evaluation (SPED 607). Measurement and Assessment: Item Response Theory I and II (661/2), Survey and Questionnaire Design and Analysis (610), Advanced Practicum in Quantitative Methods (610/685 tentative).
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students must hold a master's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.00. Students applying for this Ph.D. program are expected to live in the Eugene/Springfield area. Students must have a GRE or MAT minimum score of 1500 or better for the older system, or 500 each for verbal and quantitative, and at least 4.0 for analytical writing on the newer system. Students must have a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 575 or better on the paper-based test or 233 on the Computer-based test or 88 on the internet based test or minimum IELTS (academic module) overall band score of 7.0.
