This program is an advanced research-based degree. The results of the research done are summarized in a publishable doctoral dissertation. The research completed in this degree is expected to be original and innovative, and make a unique contribution to the field. Students completing this degree are well prepared to work in a research-oriented position, such as those at national laboratories, industries, or universities. The program requires a minimum of 78 credit hours beyond the bachelor's degree and normally takes 3 to 5 years to complete.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students should possess the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor degree. They should have a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 grade scale. International students should have the following acceptable proof of English competency: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 550 on the paper test or 79 on the internet test; IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 6.5; MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) with a score of 77; UI American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) with a Level 6 Pass; U.S. Education earned degree at accredited institution or successfully completed upper-level College English composition courses (at the discretion of the Graduate Admissions Office).
