Department of Mathematical Sciences offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs in the study of mathematics and statistics. The Ph.D. program in mathematical sciences started in the Fall of 2005, and has four areas of concentration. The department has a distributed computing lab, as well as various other computing resources at UNLV. Opportunities are available for students interested in statistics, pure, and applied mathematics.

Accommodation is provided at four living complexes, where the students feel at home on campus. Tonopah Complex has a capacity of 435 residents with features such as Computer lab, conference room, and study lounge, TV/social lounges, Laundry rooms, Recreation area and Snack vending areas. Upper Class complex has a capacity of approximately 400 residents and includes facilities such as Laundry room, Study lounge, TV/social lounge, Recreation area and Snack vending area. Dayton Complex has a capacity of approximately 475 students and includes facilities such as large laundry rooms, Computer lab, Conference room, Recreation area and Snack vending areas. All residence halls including common-use areas and individual rooms are non-smoking. This includes lounges, study rooms, laundry rooms, corridors, stairwells recreation rooms, and elevators.
