Welcome to the on-line home of the Department of Political Science at Florida State University. We are a growing department and proud of our strength in research and our national reputation! We hope you’ll visit our News page to learn about recently established graduate fellowships and new faculty. Our faculty publish regularly in the discipline’s leading research journals and academic presses (see recent publications). A ranking of political science departments based on publications in research journals places our Department 9th among all U.S. public universities. We believe our success stems from the stimulating and collaborative research environment we have created in the department.Our standing in the profession is important to us, and we continue to build. Florida State University offers several housing options in order to meet the various needs of graduate students. University Housing is committed to providing a comfortable environment that promotes and supports the educational mission of the University.Besides the traditional residence halls available to undergraduate students, FSU has several options for non-traditional undergraduates (23 years of age or older, married, single parent, etc.) and all graduate students. Students may choose from Rogers Hall, Alumni Village or designated spaces in Ragans Hall. Be advised that Rogers and Ragans halls are reserved for single students. Rogers Hall and Alumni Village offer a month-to-month contract, while Ragans Hall only offers a semester contract. Alumni Village offers graduate students a variety of housing options including one and two-bedroom flats and two and three bedroom town houses. Many graduate students relocate with their families; Alumni Village offers comfortable housing for them. Single graduate students can also reside at Alumni Village either alone or with another FSU graduate student roommate of the same gender (selected by the resident).The Florida Clean Air Act, effective as of October 1, 1993, prohibits smoking within any state university system educational facility. Therefore smoking is prohibited in indoor public areas as well as student rooms, apartments and suites.Housing Agreements for graduate students are available after a student has offically been admitted to FSU. To apply for housing, you must do the following: 1) Complete an electronic housing agreement by accessing the on-line application available on the housing website (www.housing.fsu. edu). 2) Return a paper housing agreement with all required information and return it with a non-refundable advance payment of $75, payable to Florida State University.
