Ringkasan program
The emphasis in Rhetoric and Public Communication offers courses that are linked by a common interest in the functions of discourse in all its forms. Courses in this emphasis focus on helping students to develop analytical, critical and research skills necessary for effective and ethical speaking, listening, and writing. Courses in this emphasis also help students apply knowledge and skills to acts of public advocacy in understanding the meaningful work of citizenship in a changing communicative environment. The journalism program provides students with a broad-based liberal arts education combined with an array of skills and theory courses. Skills courses teach students to gather, evaluate, publish and disseminate materials written, photographed or produced in writing, photography, layout and/or broadcasting courses. Theory and history courses educate students about the important role mass media play in society, and about their role in upholding the professional standards of journalism. The degree prepares students to function effectively in a multi-media and multi-cultural environment, and to pay attention to the ethics of communication.

Students should possess High School Diploma and should have GPA score of at least 2.50 on a 4.00 (USA) scale or be in the upper-half of their graduating class. Applicants who have a GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale or are in the upper-half of the class must have ACT composite score of at least 19 and SAT score of 870-900. Applicants who have 2.50 on a 4.00 scale or are in the upper two-thirds of the class must have ACT composite score of at least 23 and SAT score of 1030-1050. Students should have TOEFL scores which includes 527 on a paper based test, 197 on computer-based test or 71 on an internet based test. IELTS Score includes 6.0. Students need not submit TOEFL/IELTS score, if they can prove English is recognized as their countries' native language and if they have attended a US High School for more than 1 year.
