The Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology is designed to prepare students for licensure in Minnesota as Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC). As a general counseling psychology training program, the M.A. introduces students to a variety of psychological theories and techniques. The program requires successful completion of a minimum of 48 semester credits of study and a comprehensive examination.

The applicant must hold a Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or its equivalent. A minimum scores in Test of English as a Foreign Language 550 Paper-based, 213 Computer-based, 80 Internet- based with a minimum score of 20 for both the writing, and speaking sections of the test School code 6110. Michigan English Language Assessment Battery 80, International English Language Testing System, 6.5 for graduate programs. Master’s programs require a bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent degree if earned outside the U.S.) for admission. An overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 meets minimum requirements, but applicants with lower GPAs will be considered based on their professional experience.
