The MSW program emphasizes the development of the individual student. The curriculum through its focus on clinical social work practice, direct practice with individuals, and small groups and families, deals with problems including poverty, discrimination, mental illness, developmental disability and oppression. It emphasizes demonstrated mastery of knowledge as well as practice skills.

The applicant must hold a Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or its equivalent. A minimum scores in Test of English as a Foreign Language 550 Paper-based, 213 Computer-based, 80 Internet- based with a minimum score of 20 for both the writing, and speaking sections of the test School code 6110. Michigan English Language Assessment Battery 80, International English Language Testing System, 6.5 for graduate programs. Master’s programs require a bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent degree if earned outside the U.S.) for admission. An overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 meets minimum requirements, but applicants with lower GPAs will be considered based on their professional experience.
