The Law School is expanding its programs in international law and study. For foreign students we offer an LL.M. degree, with emphases in several subject areas. U.S. students may take advantage of our summer programs at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and the Australian National University in Canberra. The School of Law offers a one-year program for foreign students leading to the Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree. The program is for persons who have completed a basic legal education and received a university degree in law in another country. Students may elect to take courses aimed at developing knowledge in specific areas of the law -- such as international business law, environmental law or comparative law -- or may tailor a custom course of study to suit individual interests or professional needs. Enrollment in the LL.M. program is limited.

The cost of living in Tuscaloosa is lower than in many other cities. An average two bedroom apartment off campus rents for about $450 per month. For a $40 membership fee, students can join the Off-Campus Association (OCA). The OCA is a nonprofit organization that allows its members — composed of students, staff, and faculty of The University of Alabama to receive significant savings on public utility deposits (electricity and natural gas). The University maintains more than 200 student apartments geared toward graduate/older students, which offer both the benefits of independent living and the convenience of campus housing.
