The multiple knowledge basis that are needed to address these entrenched challenges can be gained through the dual degree program in social work and education. The MS in Education degree is designed for students preparing to be leaders in educational administration, student support services, or supervision. The MSW degree is also designed for students preparing for leadership roles in an array of personal and administrative roles. By combining courses of study in the Penn Graduate School of Education and School of Social Policy & Practice, graduates will understand the learning environment of students, understand schools as organizations; and know how to direct intervention programs and student support services that focus on the social and emotional development of students of all ages.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; or a .It is expected that the degree will include courses that reflect that applicants have backgrounds in several of the following areas: society, history and tradition, arts and letters, formal reasoning and analysis, the living world, the physical world, social studies. Students whose native language is not English must take the TOEFL test. Prospective students should familiarize themselves with the areas of expertise of the Penn EALC faculty. In most cases, a student whose interests fall outside the strengths and collective expertise of Penn faculty will not be admitted to the program, regardless of qualifications.
