The purpose of the joint majors in accounting is to provide the opportunity for students to complete an in-depth study of both accounting and another business discipline within the 124 credits needed to obtain an undergraduate degree. This is not possible if the student pursues a double major in accounting and another business discipline. The joint major requires three fewer accounting courses and there are some modifications in the other business major as well.

Admission to Drake is selective, the admission committee considers the full record of each candidate for admission. Drake prefers students with varied talents and interests, so there is no single, inflexible set of admission standards applied to all candidates. Students should complete their secondary school for admissions into undergraduate programs. Should take the TOEFL and submit scores to Drake. If not done prior to arrival on campus, the TOEFL must be completed during the orientation session before beginning the semester. Submit documented evidence of financial support for educational expenses. Students should submit ACT or SAT scores directly from the testing agency for scholarship consideration or for admission to the pre-professional pharmacy program.
