Ringkasan program
This program offers students the opportunity to conduct research in the areas of genome organization and evolution, mechanisms of gene regulation, informatics and genome analysis, gene discovery and characterization, the molecular pathology of genetic diseases, and gene therapy. All organisms and genetic mechanisms are included. It emphasizes course work and research experience in The Molecular Pathology of Genetic Diseases, Gene Discovery and Characterization, Translational Genetics, Informatics and Genome Analysis, Gene Regulation, Genome Organization and Evolution. The overall goal of this program is to provide students with comprehensive training in genetics and genomic sciences. The emphasis of this program is on human genetic diseases utilizing mouse and other eukaryotic model systems. Unique opportunities exist for integrating basic genomics research with clinical and translational genetics.
Modul program
The modules for first year G300 Core I: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, G310 and G311 Laboratory Rotation, G312 Responsible Conduct of Research, G315 Introduction to Journal Club I, G320 Biostatistics, G591 and G592 Dean's Seminar, G305 Core II: Cell and Developmental Biology, G316 Introduction to Journal Club II, G381 Core III: Genetics and Genomic Sciences, G395 Methods in Biomedical Sciences. Modules for second year: at least 3 advanced course credits, GGS Journal Club, GGS Seminar, G380 Genetics and Genomic Sciences, Independent Research. Modules for third year are G800 Independent Doctoral Research, GGS or other Journal Club (1 credit), Seminar (1 credit). Modules for final year are G900 Dissertation Research, GGS or other Journal Club (1 credit), Seminar Series (1 credit).
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students must submit application form and by submitting the research-oriented MD/PhD online application form. They must have had research experience and should have taken advanced courses in science (e.g., physical chemistry, genetics, biochemistry). The MD/PhD application form is the only written material which must be submitted in addition to the application materials to the Medical School. They must submit 3 letters of recommendation from research advisors and GRE scores. Based on the application materials, a group of highly qualified applicants will be selected for interview.
