Ringkasan program
This program is designed to strengthen the language skills and cultural awareness of practicing teachers; develop new patterns and techniques of teacher preparation and teacher/student interaction in the target language; narrow the traditional gap in graduate study between the methods of teaching and the content areas of literature and culture; encourage the professional development of the field; allow practicing teachers to complete graduate studies within a reasonable time (two to three years).
Modul program
The Classes in Modern Languages (18 hours) are MLANG 710 Intro to FL Pedagogy (3), MLANG 770 Intro to 2nd Lang Acquisition (3), SPAN 777 (3) Cult/Lit in Second Language Learning, SPAN 778 (3) Hispanic Cult/Lit 2nd Lang II, SPAN 670 (3) Spanish Applied Linguistics, SPAN 770 (3) Introduction to Second Language Acquisition, Two 700 level literature courses (6); Classes in Education (18 hours) are FSHS 506 Middle Childhood and Adolescence (3), EDSEC 500 Secondary Content Methods (3)1, EDSEC 520 Block II Lab: Field, EDSEP 525 Interpersonal Relations (1), EDSP 710 Education of Exceptional Individuals (3), EDEL 620 FL Methods for Elementary Schools (3), EDCI 991 Internship, taken with EDEL 620 (1), EDCI 886 History of American Education (3), EDCI 992 Internship (Field Experience) (4).
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the cognizant regional accrediting agency and undergraduate preparation in the proposed major field equivalent to that acquired by a graduate of Kansas State University, or evidence of an appropriate background for undertaking an advanced degree program. Applicants should have GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 hours of coursework. This GPA is based only on courses graded on a multi-level scale, usually A, B, C, D, and F. Applicants who are submitting a TOEFL iBT (internet based) score must have a minimum of 79 to be considered for admission to a graduate program. Applicants with part scores of less than 20 on any one of the reading, writing, or listening sections may be considered for provisional admission and required to take the English Proficiency Test (EPT) prior to enrolling in their first semester. Applicants who are submitting a TOEFL paper-based test score must have a minimum of 550 to be considered for admission to a graduate program. Applicants with scores 550 through 599 may be admitted provisionally and must take the EPT prior to enrolling in their first semester. Applicants who are submitting an IELTS score must have a minimum of 6.1 to be considered for admission to a graduate program. Applicants with a score 6.1 through 6.9 may be admitted provisionally and must take the EPT prior to enrolling in their first semester. Applicants will be required to enroll in designated course(s) based on EPT scores and the recommendation of the K-State English Language Program.
