Ringkasan program
This degree prepares students to teach Spanish to adult learners at post-secondary institutions or private secondary schools. The program does not offer public school certification. This program is comprised of four sets of courses: two foundation, three advanced second language teaching, four area, and one elective. Students select the area and elective courses according to their emphasis in literature/culture or linguistics.

Applicants must have: A Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Spanish language teaching, or linguistics, or a strong undergraduate record in such a field, if the degree was obtained in another academic subject; A GPA of 3.0, or significant strength in the second language, language teaching methodology, or linguistics as shown through coursework; Completion of Linguistics 1200 or 3200: Introduction to the Study of Language or its equivalent prior to entrance, with a grade of B- or better. May be taken as a co-requisite during the first semester of study. Linguistics 1200 is often offered during the summer. A minimum score of 500 (173 on computer-based exam or 61 on new iBT exam) or better on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for applicants whose first language is not English (Individual departments may require higher scores.).
