Ringkasan program
This program emphasizes knowledge of learners who are identified with learning disabilities, behavior disorders, autism, or severe disabilities. A master's in SPED prepares professionals to work as specialists and consultants in school programs that serve students with diverse learning needs (e.g. behavioral, academic, social). Graduate studies in special education build capacity through personnel preparation, research, outreach, and dissemination. These efforts are focused on systemic approaches to prevent and reduce the incidence and prevalence of disabilities as well as to provide supports for students with disabilities to successfully participate in schools and communities. In this program, students enhance their skills as early interventionists, special education teachers, or consultants; to work in adult service programs for people with disabilities; or to prepare for the doctoral program. Graduates find positions in the United States and abroad that include working in community- and family-based programs; teaching kindergarten, school-age, and adult students; conducting individual and group intervention programs; managing residential living centers; coordinating in-service training programs; consulting with teachers about educating children with disabilities in general-education classrooms and school settings; conducting research; teaching in colleges and universities; working in the administration of special-education programs; and delivering best practices in collaboration with a variety of professions in a range of settings. The program of study leading to the master’s degree requires a minimum of 45 credits of graduate work. The program of study includes required core courses, associated field studies, electives, and a terminal project. This licensure-endorsement program prepares teachers to work with the full range of disabilities in middle and high school settings. Students may pursue initial licensure in special education, add-on endorsement, or combine endorsement studies with master's programs in other areas. Students in the program take several courses with other university students who are preparing to be general secondary education teachers. Special educator middle/high school license program emphasizes a broad-based approach to helping youth with disabilities succeed in middle and high school settings and to be better prepared for the transition from school to work opportunities and post-secondary education. Upon completion of program requirements, graduates of the special educator-middle/high school program are eligible to apply to Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) for their initial teaching license or for an add-on endorsement with authorization for the middle or high school levels.

The modules are foundations - two of the following: SPED 511 Foundations of Disability I (3), SPED 512 Foundations of Disability II (3), SPED 680 Foundations in Early Childhood and Early Intervention. Behavioral Support: SPED 526 Behavior and Classroom Management (4), SPED 536 Advanced Behavior Management (3). Curriculum and Instruction: SPED 660 Design of Instruction (4), SPED 610 Assessment in Special Education (3). Secondary emphasis: SPED 611 Mid/Sec Reading (3), SPED 612 Mid/Sec Writing (3), SPED 614 School to Careers (3), SPED 615 Transition Assessment and Planning (3). Legal Issues - One of the following: SPED 628 Law and Special Education (3), EDLD 627 Law and Governance (4). Multicultural: EDLD 637 Diversity in Education (3). Field Studies - One of the following: SPED 606 Field Studies (3), SPED 609 Practicum (3). Research - One of the following: EDLD 610 Intro to Ed Research (4), SPED 607 Research Methods (3), SPSY 617 Tests and Measurement in Education (4).
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students must be a graduate of an accredited four-year college or university with a GPA of 3.00. Students must have a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 575 on the paper-based test or minimum IELTS (academic module) overall band score of 7.0.
