This program provides a modern foundation for work drawing on statistical techniques including adaptive signal processing, statistical pattern recognition, time series analysis and prediction, and image processing. The curriculum provides a strong basis in statistical fundamentals as well as a variety of classical and modern tools such as neural networks, and genetic algorithms.

Applicants should have either a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or have a strong computer science background. The background should include, at a minimum, undergraduate courses in discrete mathematics, data structures, and statistics (typically sophomore level courses). Students should also be proficient in a modern programming language. Written Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores are required for applicants whose native language is not English, except for those who have earned a degree from a US institution. The OGI School of Science and Engineering will accept the paper-based test, computer-based, or internet-based test.
