Ringkasan program

This program is designed to help content area teachers of grades 6-2 improve their students’ literacy skills. Whether student teach history, science, mathematics, social studies, English, or other content areas, this degree program features research-based strategies to prepare struggling students for more complex, abstract, and sophisticated learning in the content-area classroom. This program is based on the nationally accepted standards for teaching reading for the classroom professional as set forth by the International Reading Association (IRA).

The modules include: Core Courses: EDUC 6610 Teacher as Professional 3, EDUC 6640 Designing Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment 3, EDUC 6650 Enhancing Learning Through Linguistic and Cultural Diversity 3, EDUC 6733 Action Research for Educators 3, EDUC 6657 Creating an Effective Classroom Learning Environment 3, EDUC 6674 Designing Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for Students With Special Needs 3, Specialization Courses: READ 6581 Reading in the Content Areas, Grades 6-12 3, READ 6582 Writing in the Content Areas, Grades 6-12 3, READ 6583 Technology and Literacy in the Content Areas, Grades 6-12 3, READ 6584 Supporting Struggling Readers, Grades 6–12 3.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Applicants must have : A bachelor’s degree in a discipline or field related to the program/specialization for which application is made, from a U.S. school accredited by a regional, professional/specialized, or national accrediting organization recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or from an appropriately accredited non-U.S. institution; Names of and contact information for two persons qualified to comment knowledgeably on the applicant’s skills and professional and/or academic qualifications for study in the intended field.
