This program prepares students for leadership positions as health practitioners or for advanced study in nutrition.
Modul program
The program modules include Group I - Required Core Courses: NFS 5314 Human Nutrition and Metabolism; NFS 5363 Human Nutrition and Disease; 1 hour seminar; 3 hours statistics or research design; Group II - Additional courses in major to be selected from the following: NFS 5033 Eating Disorders and Eating Behaviors; NFS 5043 Vegetarianism; NFS 5343 Advanced Nutrition Care; NFS 5433 Women’s Health; NFS 5453 Nutrition Education; NFS 5473 Advanced Preventive Nutrition; NFS 5585 Nutrition and Exercise; NFS 5623 Nutraceuticals and Dietary Supplements; NFS 5723 Nutrition and Metabolic Syndrome; NFS 5893 Nutritional Epidemiology; NFS 5901 or NFS 5903 Special Topics; Note: A maximum of 6 credit hours for internship experience, independent study, or cooperative education is permitted in this option. Research hours are not permitted. Group III - Additional coursework: Coursework to be selected from additional courses above, other NFS program areas (Food Systems Management or Food Science), coursework from another department, or coursework transferred from another institution (up to 3 hrs) with approval of the advisory committee.

Students should have earned an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 undergraduate hours. International students, whose native language is not English, must demonstrate English language proficiency by obtaining minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper - based) or 213 (computer - based) or 79 (internet - based) or on the International English Language Test Service (IELTS) an overall band score of 6.5; or on the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) an overall score of 80 as evidence of English language proficiency is required. GRE is required, minimum score of 350 on the verbal portion and 450 on the quantitative portion.
