Ringkasan program
The program is flexible and designed to meet the needs and interests of the individual student. The program leading to a PhD generally requires 4 to 5 years to complete. In the first year, student time is largely devoted to course work designated as Basic Biomedical Sciences. Students will be exposed to current departmental research programs through hands-on laboratory experiences leading to the selection of an area in which they will conduct research. Dissertation research under the mentorship of a faculty advisor should be under way early in the second year before the student has completed formal course requirements. Beginning in the second year, student will complete the Other Core Requirements and take advanced course work tailored to a students needs. Students start participating in the teaching programs of the department to gain communication skills important for career development. As students proceed through the program, research will occupy an increasing amount of time.

The course modules are Phys 251 Molecular Structure and Function of the Cell 3 cr, Bioc 201Biochemistry for Graduate Students 5 cr, Phys 205 Basic Physiology 6 cr, Phys 206 Basic Physiology, Laboratory 3 cr, Phys 207 Basic Physiology Discussion 1 cr, INT 220 Ethics in the Biomedical Sciences 1 cr. Optional course work second year for the fall are Phys 212 Cardiovascular Physiology3 cr, Phys 216 Endocrinology 3 cr, Phys 215 Neurophysiology 3 cr. Spring Phys 250 Scientific Writing for Graduate Students 2 cr, Phys 280 Special Topics 4 cr.
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
The applicant should be a master's degree from an approved college or university with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for undergraduate work, minimum of 1000 combined verbal and quantitative scores on the GRE, two letters of recommendation, a statement of career goals and for international applicants whose native language is not English, a minimum of 250 on the TOEFL.
