Ringkasan program
In this program, students who complete the 48-hour program will have K-12 endorsement. The program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The program’s conceptual framework emphasizes development of knowledgeable, caring, ethical decision-makers within the context of groups and institutions, client development and learning, guidance and counseling of students leading to theory-driven and research-guided practice in school counseling. Curricular experiences include human growth and development, appraisal, research and program evaluation, professional orientation, and foundations.

The Core requirements (27 credit hours) are EDCEP 721 - Mental Health in Schools Credits: (3), EDCEP 822 - Principles of Guidance Credits: (3), EDCEP 823 - Counseling Theory Credits: (3), EDCEP 852 - Career Development for School Counselors Credits: (3), EDCEP 856 - Guidance in the Elementary School Credits: (3), EDCEP 857 - Guidance Program Management Credits: (3), EDCEP 871 - Consultation for Counselors Credits: (3), EDCEP 921 - Advanced Educational Psychology: Development Credits: (3), EDCEP 951 - Multicultural Counseling Credits: (3), Research and appraisal requirements (9 credit hours) are EDCEP 715 - Principles of Assessment Credits: (3), EDCEP 815 - Using Tests in Counseling Credits: (3), EDCEP 816 - Research Methods in Education Credits: (3), Clinical requirements (12 credit hours) are EDCEP 858 - Group Processes Credits: (3), EDCEP 877 - Practicum in Counseling Credits: (3), EDCEP 887 - Counseling Internship Credits: (1-3).
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the cognizant regional accrediting agency and undergraduate preparation in the proposed major field equivalent to that acquired by a graduate of Kansas State University, or evidence of an appropriate background for undertaking an advanced degree program. Applicants must have undergraduate grade average of 3.0 or better in the junior and senior years. Undergraduate preparation substantially equivalent to that given by K-State in the specific field in which the applicant expects to do graduate work and undergraduate preparation in closely related or supporting subjects adequate to support advanced work in the field of the applicant’s choice. Applicants must have 50th percentile for education students on the Miller Analogies Test or the verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing sections of the Graduate Record Examination. International students whose native language is not English must make available the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 550 is required on the paper and pencil version of the TOEFL examination or a score of 213 on the computer version of the TOEFL.
