This program provides students unique opportunities to gain first-hand knowledge of the history, cultures, and intellectual traditions of the Caribbean and of the broader Insular Atlantic world, including its emigre populations in North America and Europe.

Students should have a bachelor degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized university with a B average or higher. In addition to this, international students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on paper-based or 79 on Internet-based. A minimum IELTS score of 6.5 is also required.

University at Buffalo, The State University of New York is a premier, research-intensive public university and a member of the Association of American Universities. As the largest, most comprehensive institution in the 64-campus State University of New York system, the research, creative activity and people positively impact the world. It was founded in 1846. UB offer more than 100 undergraduate degrees and nearly 300 graduate and professional programs. UB alumni live in every state and 130 countries. The University at Buffalo has three campuses: the North Campus in suburban Amherst, the South Campus on Main Street in a North Buffalo neighborhood and the growing Downtown Campus, encompassing several buildings in downtown Buffalo. UB's administration establishes policies and sets the priorities for the university academically, professionally and financially. Led by the president and provost, the leaders chart the course for UB's future. UB is first in the nation among comprehensive public research universities in terms of percentage of enrollment that is international. Nearly 11 percent of UB students study abroad five times the national average. UB has exchange programs with more than 75 universities around the world. It is privileged to have two art galleries dedicated to the university's mission for academic excellence and service to the community.

The University at Buffalo offers students a variety of housing options. Students have the option to live either on-campus of off-campus. The residence halls are generally reserved for first and second year undergraduate students. The on-campus apartment complexes are reserved for our third and fourth year students. They also have designated on-campus apartment complexes for graduate students. The residence halls are located on both the north and south campus. There are five residence hall facilities on the South Campus: Clement and Goodyear Halls, which are two high-rise halls connected by a service area; Pritchard, MacDonald, and Schoellkopf Halls, which are four story residences. International students choosing to live on the South Campus should choose Clement Hall or MacDonald Hall as their first choice since those are the only two South Campus Residence Halls that remains open during term breaks. The North Campus has two housing clusters: the Governors Residence Halls and the the Joseph Ellicott Complex. International students choosing to live on the North Campus should choose Red Jacket Quadrange or Clinton Hall as their first choice since they are the only North Campus Residence Halls that remain open during term breaks. The rooms are furnished with a bed, mattress, desk and chair, nightstand, dresser, and a lamp for each occupant. Rooms are equipped with Ethernet data connections for personal computers. Each room is with a telephone jack and is wired for cable television reception.
