Ringkasan program
This program is developed for individuals who hold elementary or secondary teaching certificates, and offers courses that focus on issues and practices related to an integrated language arts curriculum. The material will be considered in terms of learners from diverse backgrounds and school settings. The concentration is designed to allow students who have Michigan teaching certificates to complete coursework necessary to add a certificate major endorsement in reading (coded BR in Michigan). This endorsement will allow students to teach reading as a special subject and serve as a building resource person in grades K-12. The program complies with the guidelines on Advanced Reading Education of the International Reading Association.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Students should have a minimum of 3.0 or higher undergraduate grade point average. International students must have one of the following requirements: minimum TOEFL score of 84 (internet-based; minimum of 23 in reading and listening; 17 in speaking; and 21 in writing), 560 (paper-based; minimum of 56 in each section) and 173 (computer-based); IELTS with an overall band score of 5.0; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80 (minimum of 80 in each section); Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE).
