In this program, students will develop an understanding of the political, economic, social, and cultural contexts in which news is gathered and disseminated. They will acquire the skills needed to investigate effectively the world of news and to report these findings accurately, clearly, completely, and in the public interest. They will graduate with the know-ledge of the critical, analytical, and ethical perspectives necessary to succeed in entry-level jobs and in lifelong careers.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must meet one of the following college readiness standards in order to be eligible to be considered for admission at a Texas four-year public institution. Students must successfully complete the recommended or advanced high school program or complete the portion of the program that was available to them; or students must have the scores of SAT - 1500 out of 2400 (verbal, math and writing)/ACT - 18 English, 21 reading, 22 mathematics and 24 science; or successfully complete a curriculum that is equivalent in content and rigor to the recommended or advanced high school program at a high school that is exempt from offering such programs. Students that do not meet one of first two requirements must prove they meet the third requirement by having their counselor fill out the high school curriculum certification form and submit to the University of Houston. Students must complete each of the high school academic core courses (four units of English; three units of mathematics, including at least algebra I, algebra II, and geometry; two units of laboratory science, including at least one unit/credit in biology, chemistry, or physics; three units of social studies; two units/credits in one foreign language) with an average of a 2.5 or a “C+” or higher for the group. Students should have secured a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based) on the test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or overall band score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or completion of level six of the University of Houston’s Language and Culture Center.
