Ringkasan program

This program prepares students to plan, develop, administer, and evaluate residential and community-based programs for older people. Three core courses introduce to the nature of aging, health issues in later life, and the spectrum of aging services. Advanced coursework provides grounding in the provision of senior housing and related health and social services. Students complete a minimum of three-semester hours (500 clock hours) of supervised internship for the LSHA major. Those preparing for licensure as a nursing facility administrator complete and additional 500-clock-hour of internship in a licensed facility.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. Students should have completed a minimum of 9 graduate hours of gerontology and at least 3 graduate semester hours in research methods; have at least a 3.4 GPA for master’s courses; and have competitive scores on the verbal and quantitative sections of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Students should have a 2.8 grade point average or higher on all undergraduate work or a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 hours of their undergraduate degree or a 3.4 GPA on their master's degree. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based), score of 550 (Paper-based) and score of 213 (Computer-based) and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall band and also should have minimum MELAB (official version) score of 80 or higher.
