Ringkasan program

This program prepares special education teacher leaders for work in public and private schools and in state, federal, or community settings. Specific areas of education and training include behavior disorders, mental retardation, specific learning disabilities, and varying exceptionalities (exceptional student education). It is designed to ensure that all graduates are prepared to be reflective practitioners, able to evaluate and continuously learn from their own teaching; collaborative professionals who affirm diversity; knowledgeable of theory and research; and skilled in the best practices of special education. Graduates of this program will have advanced clinical and pedagogical skills in working with children with disabilities and their families. It is structured so that students can maintain full-time employment while pursuing their degrees through traditional, web enhanced and on-line course delivery. The M.A. program in special education is a 36-hour program, designed for students with an undergraduate degree in special education.

Modul program

The modules are Core Requirements 24 hours: EDF 6481 Foundations of Educational Research, EEX 6025, EEX 6612, EEX 6222, EEX 6245, EEX 6732, EEX 5752, EEX 6248, EEX 6939, Concentration Requirements 9 hours: EED 6215 Adv Theories and Practices in Behavior Disorders, ELD 6015 Adv Theories and Practices in Specific Learning Disabilities, EMR 6052 Advanced Theories and Practices in Intellectual Disabilities (3 hrs), Comprehensive Examination 3 hours: EEX 6943.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students should have a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university, or its international equivalent. Scholastic evidence to successfully perform in the academic program, as indicated by one of the following: earned graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper division undergraduate coursework or minimum GRE scores of verbal (430), quantitative (470) and analytical writing (4). Students should have a minimum TOEFL total score of 79 on the internet-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or 550 on the paper-based test. The TOEFL requirement may be waived if the students meets one of the following conditions: have scored 500 or higher on the GRE verbal test; earned a college degree at a U.S. institution of higher learning; earned a college degree from an institution whose language of instruction is English (must be noted on the transcript) or scored 6.5 on International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
