Ringkasan program
In this program there are two options for students. The thesis option and the non-thesis option. Students earning a Master's degree in the UNT history department must follow the thesis option to qualify for admission in the department's doctoral program. Thesis option consists of 25 hours of graduate work in history (including one hour of historical bibliography and at least two research seminars) and a six-hour thesis. The 25 classroom hours may be selected from any graduate courses offered by the department; the six-hour thesis may be written on any topic approved by the student's advisory committee. A candidate for this degree must successfully complete an oral examination on the course work and the thesis. A student taking Non thesis option must take any two research seminars in history and one hour of historical bibliography. The remaining 24 hours may be all in history or may include a minor of up to six hours in a related field approved by the department chair. A candidate for this degree must successfully complete an oral examination on the course work.

Students must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. They should have GRE score at the 50th percentile or higher on the verbal and score either at the 40th percentile or higher on the quantitative portion or a four or higher (on a scale of 1 to 6) on the analytical writing portion of the GRE. Students should have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a four-point scale for all undergraduate work or for the last 60 hours of undergraduate work. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based), score of 550 (Paper-based) and score of 213 (Computer-based) and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall band and also should have minimum MELAB (official version) score of 80 or higher.
