This program trains policy-oriented planners for leadership positions in the public, non-profit and private sector. This program differs from public policy programs primarily in its focus on spatial issues including but not limited to building form and land use. This program is ideal for students seeking a challenging education with an emphasis on both the long-term principles and practical skills necessary for a professional career. Public sector jobs (local, state and federal) held by CRP graduates include: local government land use planner, community development director, social services staff, impact assessment specialist, environmental planner, emergency services director. Private sector employers include: planning consultant firms, private developers, utility companies. Nonprofit and research employers include: sustainable business organizations, economic development corporations, advocacy groups, political associations, state research bureaus. Increasing opportunities in nonprofit and philanthropic enterprise have resulted from strong growth in assets and expanded activities in the nonprofit sector. Nonprofit enterprise has broadened, and the complexities of its management require professional skills specific to the sector. Those who concentrate in this field will benefit from one of the most extensive nonprofit curricula in the nation, as well as one of the highest number of Nonprofit management certificate graduates annually.

The modules are core (37 credits): PPPM 611, Introduction to Planning Practice (4 credits), PPPM 612, Legal Issues in Planning (4 credits), PPPM 613, Planning Analysis (5 credits), PPPM 607, Planning Analysis II/GIS (5 credits), PPPM 616, Planning Theory and Ethics (4 credits), PPPM 617, Human Settlements (4 credits), PPPM 620, Research Methods in Planning (4 credits), PPPM 608, Workshop: Computer Applications (3 credits), One of the following classes addressing design/land use (4 credits): PPPM 507 Seminar City Growth/City Design, PPPM 540 Land Use and Growth Management, PPPM 542 Sustainable Urban Development, PPPM 545 Green Cities. Experiential learning (10 credits): PPM 608, Community Planning Workshop (2-terms required -10 credits). Focal Area (13-18 credits) - Nonprofit / Philanthropy: PPPM 546 Socioeconomic Development Planning, PPPM 555 Topic: Social Welfare Policy, PPPM 522 Grant Proposal Writing, PPPM 524 Public and Nonprofit Financial Management, PPPM 581 Resource Development for Nonprofit Organizations, PPPM 680 Managing Nonprofit Organizations, PPPM 507 Seminar in Program Evaluation, PPPM 607 Graduate Seminar in Philanthropy, PPPM 607 Board Governance, PPPM 622 Project Management, PPPM 643 Collaborative Planning and Management, PPPM 680 Managing Nonprofit Organizations, PPPM 683 Professional Practice in Nonprofit Organizations.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must be a graduate of an accredited four-year college or university. Students must have a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 575 on the paper-based test or 90-91 on the internet-based test or higher or minimum IELTS (academic module) overall band score of 7.0.
